Job description for Fabricator Sheet Metal Worker

We are seeking a skilled Fabricator Sheet Metal Worker to join our team. As a Fabricator Sheet Metal Worker, you will be responsible for creating and shaping metal parts and components through precision cutting, bending, and assembling techniques. Your expertise will be crucial in fabricating a wide range of products, from simple metal structures to complex machinery parts. The ideal candidate should possess strong metalworking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand the required metal components and structures.
- Operate various metalworking equipment, such as shears, press brakes, rollers, and welding machines to cut, bend, and shape sheet metal.
- Select appropriate materials based on project requirements and ensure accuracy in measurements and dimensions.
- Conduct quality checks on fabricated parts to ensure they meet design specifications and make necessary adjustments when needed.
- Weld and join metal parts together using various welding techniques, ensuring strong and secure connections.
- Collaborate with the design and engineering teams to suggest improvements in designs for better fabrication processes.
- Maintain and repair metalworking equipment to ensure their optimal performance and safety.
- Follow established safety protocols and best practices in handling and working with metal and related tools.
- Keep accurate records of work done, materials used, and time spent on projects.
- Assist in training and guiding apprentices or junior workers in metal fabrication techniques.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Fabricator Sheet Metal Worker or similar role.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Solid understanding of various metal types, thicknesses, and their characteristics.
- Hands-on experience with metalworking tools and equipment, such as shears, press brakes, rollers, and welding machines.
- Skilled in welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
- Strong mathematical and measurement skills to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Attention to detail and a high level of precision in workmanship.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with other team members.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to adhere to safety guidelines at all times.
Hours of employment 07:00 to 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 07:00 to 13:00 Friday.
Full training and support will be given to enable your successful development within this role.
Potential to accrue 20 Days annual leave in a full 12 months in addition to Bank Holidays.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £13 – £16 per hour, depending on experience
